"So what is this live commentary, chat, web party you speak of?

16 Sep

Lets talk about one of the core features of this site; the real time commentary.  On the air dates of selected shows I and possibly other panelist (if you want to be a panelist, contact me) will be here online discussing each episode as they play out using the CoveritLive platform.  Think of CoveritLive as a moderated chat room with lots of cool features.

Below is a list of questions and answers (FAQ) that you may have.  If I missed any questions please leave comments and I'll answer them as soon as possible. Remember your questions help others smiley

  • Why have commentary for the show?
    • Why have commentary during sporting events? Why the extra commentary on DVD and Blu-ray? It hopefully adds value to the viewing experience.
  • Do I have to have my PC next to me while I watch The Event?
    • I wouldn't suggest you sit in front of a clunky desktop while you attempt to enjoy TV, but that's your choice. A laptop is a great choice, but the site also has a mobile address that's excellent for iPhones, Droids, and other mobile devices; m.the-event.tv That address will take you directly to the commentary viewer.
  • Can I send comments during the commentary?
    • Yes! This won't be an open chat with lots of disjointed conversations; but you are highly encouraged to send in your comments.  I will let as many comments through as makes since at the time.
  • How do I send in comments?
    • Just type in a name, a question or comment, and click Send.making-comments.JPG
    • If you're away from the commentary window Tweet your comments @TheEventLive.
  •   I DVR the show, what if I miss the live commentary?
    • No worries; the commentary sessions will remain up indefinitely and have a Replay option with time stamps; so you can follow along when ever you do watch.  You can even leave comments below the commentary if you log on with a supported social network.
  • Has this been done before?
  • Will this be a distraction?
    • While I encourage you to participate, it is not required. You can just sit back, watch the show, and check in every now and then; like during the commercial breaks.
    • If you get distracted easy; just check the commentary the next day.
  • Will this distract you, the commentator, from enjoying your favorite shows?
    • I honestly don't know yet; I hope not. If it does I may cut down on the rate of discussion or limit the commentary to commercial breaks and the pre and post show. We'll just have to see how it goes, but thanks for your concern.
  • Other than comments how else can I interact?
    • There will be real time polls and  trivia; with the occasional opportunity to win TV Show merchandise.
  • Can you remind me of when a commentary is going to take place?
    • Sure, just set a reminder. If you check the site during the week you should see the commentary viewer for the next episode; just type in your email address, choose the reminder time, and click Set.
  • Are you a professional commentator or TV Network employee?
    • No to both.  I'm just a fan like you who likes to play on computers.

Well that's all I have for now.  If you have more questions just leave a comment or use the website contact form and I'll get back to you.
